He has a decent speaking voice but his facial expressions are over the top, and his tone/pitch is as if he's speaking to children. He comes across as arrogant and condescending. -

Just saw this post after i created mine about birthday. I had to argue with my father about birthdays. He quoted me the WT stance from the 80's. That was the last time my father had anything to do with the witnesses. Do you know how frustrating it is to argue with a man who doesn't even believe in the WT, but yet defends them.
Basically my story is my mother is a witness but refuses to attend my daughter's birthday party.

Last year my daughter had her first birthday and all my wife's family and friends were there. My family didn't attend. My mother and sister still believe in the JW teachings even though they are both considered inactive. My father didn't go out of respect for my mother. He is not a witness but believes in some "God".
This year my Father attended but I told him I feel insulted my mother chooses not to attend and that this religion damaged my childhood. I can tell this hurt his feelings, but it was my father that brought our family into this religion when I was five years old. He left the religion when I was about 11 years old, but I was still force to adhere to the religion, which included the prohibition on "wordly" friends, no school activities and all the other normal things a child does. I resented him for forcing a religion on me he didn't accept. Though I escaped at about 19 it still robbed me of a normal childhood.
What makes me upset is my mother doesn't attend meetings, field service, or assemblies regularly. Yet she still chooses to believe despite the fact she is labeled weak and viewed by many JWs as deserving death at Armageddon. Maybe I should've let it go but I think it sucks my daughter will only see my wife's side of the family at holidays and other normal events. I think I will just wait until my daughter is older and have my mother and sister personally explain to my daughter. I know I should respect other people's beliefs but it's hard when you know The Watchtower is a cult.

I graduated from a very rural Florida school, and my class size was 42. Most of us started school together in kindergarten. They made plans next year for our 20th reunion. I probably won't go. Even though I spent 13 years of my life with them, they never got to know me. I was the odd JW that wouldn't socialize with them. They treated me indifferently which I suppose is better than being bullied. Those years were not the best because I missed out on things I really wanted to do as a child.... sports, prom, friends, honor clubs, ect.... I and like many on this board never got to experience those things. -

Islam is the Epitome of Misogyny
by cofty inin this video the popular saudi cleric sheik yahya al-jana discusses the joys of paradise, saying that men will have the strength of a hundred men in paradise and will be busy tearing hymens, while the virgins of paradise, whose breasts are like pomegranates, become virgins every time again.. the cleric also explains it is mostly men who enter paradise noting that women in general are bad because they refuse to wear the veil, they wear tight clothes in shopping malls, put on perfume and jewelry, and use filthy social media platforms.
source.... this is what young men from conservative muslim families are raised on.
is it any wonder islamic countries treat women appallingly?.

Comic Books, Collector Cards, Coloring Books, Animation.... What other tools do they plan to use to indoctrinate children?
by adjusted knowledge ini didn't realize they had comic books and collector cards for children.
it seems they rail against the world about things and then years later do the same thing.. i remember talks blasting comic books, and other similar teaching devices the local southern baptist would use.
i can recall an elder holding up a comic book about burning in hell from a local church and blasting that religion.

I wonder if they will ever do a separate Sunday school for the local Elder perv can teach the children. I noticed a lot of the new kingdom halls have a few enclosed rooms built in them.

National IQ Test Scores And Psychological Required Profile For Public Veiwing For Those Running For Presidential Candidate
by Brokeback Watchtower ini think this could be like a national service for the betterment of the country so that they have wise leadership abilities that is needed for the job.
this could be a great aid to help the people pick the best qualified to do the job and weed out the mentally incompitant.

Psychological profile like anything concerning psychology is subjective. For every diagnosis one psychologist or psychiatrist makes there will be others that disagree.
A IQ test I'm not sure would be of any benefit. There has been several studies that try to determine past president IQ and there is bias involved in that as well. There are many examples in history of high IQ leaders that made terrible blunders or atrocities.
Maybe a better indication is trying to determine if the candidates are truthful.

First thoughts on "new" meeting...
by konceptual99 inhad a quick look at the workbook and flicked through the sample meeting video.. the increased use of video shows the trend for more centralised dissemination of "best practice" .
sure there isn't really a "school" any more and the format is a bit different but i think those that called it as the same old crap just in new package got it pretty much right.

I love the zoom in on people nodding their head in 100% agreement. The complete focus of everyone.
The reality is children fighting over arm rest or sleeping. Parents looking exhausted worrying about this months water bill.

Our CLAM meeting (vid): SELF-NEGATION is the first "treasure" from first meeting segment
by Gilgamesh inin the first sample video of the clam meeting (christian life and ministry) at about 5 minutes, 50 seconds in, a brother (steven phillips) is assigned the first segment of the new meeting, "treasures from god's word.
" ( http://tv.jw.org/#video/vodstudio/pub-jwbrd_201510_5_video ).
he shows just how sloppy the wts still is at trying to explain the deeper meanings of scriptures.

I so do believe this david schafer is next in line as a GB. I've seen him sent to give talks in assemblies, has had multiple spots on JW broadcast, and seen witnesses fawn over him like he is a rock star.
